Eastern Astrology : Magha Nakshatra – The Star of Power

The term “Magh” means “Honor” in Sanskrit. The Magnificent is the meaning of the nakshatra Magha. The “Pitris” or “our ancestors” are the deities of the Magha nakshatra. The Hindu calendar’s Pitri Paksha, often known as the “fourth night of the ancestors,” is a 16-day lunar period during which people sacrifice food to their ancestors.

The Mahabharata’s unsung hero, Karna, was greeted in heaven and given wealth and jewels when he passed away. Karna went to Yama and questioned him about this when he realized he needed actual nourishment.

Yama admitted to Karna that despite giving away gold and diamonds all of his life, he never gave his ancestors any sustenance. Karna was consequently sent to earth for 15 days to provide nourishment for his ancestors. During this 15-day celebration known as Pitru Paksha, food is offered to our ancestors.
